Handling

Off loading is ideally done pneumatically, using high pressure dry air to transfer from delivery truck to the customer site storage silo. Generally, PPC Lime’s contractors road trucks are fitted with blowers to aid with the offloading. Customers therefore need not have blowers onsite.

Storage

It is important that lime is stored in an enclosed dry area. Unslaked lime reacts with water (including atmospheric moisture), producing heat and strongly alkaline hydrated lime. Care should always be excercised when handling this product. Refer to the Lime Safety and Handling Guide

Handling

Bulk lump lime is delivered from lime Acres via either covered tipper road trucks or rail trucks. PPC Lime insists on all bulk dispatches to be covered prior to leaving our site. This is to prevent moisture pick up enroute to customers.

Storage

Bulk lime should be stored in enclosed bunkers or silos to prevent undue contact with moisture of contaminants that can compromise its quality
