JP 21 Project Partnership
PPC has also partnered with the JP21 Project, founded by JP Duminy in 2014 as a school cricket league that seeks to promote a positive and healthy lifestyle while creating a platform for meaningful interaction amongst underprivileged communities and learners, through the game of cricket.
The project uses the sport as a catalyst for positive change in underprivileged communities in Strandfontein and Mitchells Plain. The organisation has recently started a school cricket league in these areas, but continues to face challenges in terms of providing learners with cricket infrastructure: the pitches and nets they need to practice and perfect their game.
Through the partnership PPC & the JP21 Project have built new concrete cricket pitches and practice nets in under resourced primary schools in the Cape, that collectively serves over 3 750 children in the region. These cricket pitches and practice nets provide the infrastructure required for the youth to develop their sporting skills, with a view that some of these children will step up to play for South Africa at PPC Newlands one day

PPC Ltd & JP21 Project Roll Out Concrete Cricket Pitches in Mitchells Plain
Learners at Parkhurst Primary School in Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town clapped and shouted with delight at an impromptu assembly, where JP Duminy and PPC Ltd announced the school would have its own concrete cricket pitch. There were similar scenes of jubilation at Eisleben Road Primary and Duneside Primary School, which were also identified as schools in need in the area. Children at these three schools are now practicing their batting and bowling skills on these new pitches, which has positively impacted the children, their families and the communities.
Below are images of the schools budding cricketers, the PPC management team and their new cricket pitches.
